All our staff are DBS checked before working with the children and these are updated every 3 years as good working practice requires.
Laura Wareing – Managing Director
A level 4 qualified Senior Early years Manager, Laura has worked with children for over 15 years now at a local school managing the day care provision. Laura is currently up to date with all qualifications and is the Designated Safeguarding lead, The SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Communications Champion, Oral health Champion.
Laura continually updates her professional development currently doing an NVQ in Early years leadership and management alongside an Early years Professional Development programme.
Sarah Holmes – Deputy Manager
A level 3 qualified Nursery Nurse, Sarah has had lots of experience working with children of all ages since qualifying in July 2007. With primary school and private day nursery experience in the Early Years Foundation Stage, Sarah was appointed Deputy Manager in November 2011 and works within all areas of the nursery. She is qualified in First Aid, health & hygiene, manual handling and is a SENCO, Communications Champion and safeguarding officer. Sarah continues to update her professional development and is currently doing her NVQ in Early years leadership and management
Kelly Carruthers – Deputy Manager
Kelly has been at Little Stars since October 2019 and had been working with pre-school children at another local nursery before joining our team. Kelly fully qualified level 3 Early years Practitioner who made a step up to the management team in 2022. Kelly has her level 3 in safeguarding and has also completed a level 3 in Special Educational needs. Kelly continually updates her professional development.
Kath Chaldecott – level 3 Early Years Practitioner
Kath retired in August 2023 but will still be popping back in nursery to cover staff holidays as and when needed
Melissa Tyrer – Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
Melissa joined us in August 2023, melissa has enjoyed getting back into childcare and is fully qualified having completed her First aid, safeguarding and Food hygiene certificates. Melissa continue to update her professional development whilst working at Little Stars.
Nicola Tyrer – Level 3 Practitioner
Nicola joined us in November 2023 and has worked in another Early years setting for over 10 years. Nicola has all the relevant qualifications and will continue to update her professional development while working at Little Stars.
